I've been having them off and on in my abdominal area. I would like to know if the sharp pains are spasms or something else. I hope it's not a dumb question.

Not a dumb question...they can be deep spasms and also gas pains that sort of jab. Have you noticed these pains in the same area or in different places?Hope you feel better!

They are mostly in the middle and on my right side. I've had them since Feb.

I have spasms in my colon too, I have them sometimes on the right side, sometimes in the middle, and sometimes on the left, sometimes it feels like it goes to my back too. I did have pain as well, but not sharp pains. Dr put me on Levbid, and it helps a lot. Did you have any tests done like a barium enema, or even better, a colonoscopy?You really should get tested to rule out anything else.

The only tests that I have had done were an abdominal x-ray and blood tests. They were normal. GI won't do a colonoscopy since I had one done years ago, and it was normal. I was put on Levsin and have been on it for two weeks with no significant relief from the sharp pains. Yes, my doctor and GI know about the sharp pains. Last month, they said the next step would be to get a CT scan, which I don't think will show anything, if the Levsin doesn't help. I had my gallbladder taken out years ago, so I know it's not that.At the end of this month, I'm suppose to go out of town to my husband's family reunion. I don't want to go because I have to eat every two hours, and I won't be able to.
