Audie - I have more back pain, than front with my IBS. It's low back pain, and more often on the left hand side. If I get constipated, I get back pain/discomfort too. IBS pain can radiate down into the groin area also. I find a soak in warm(well, almost hot) baths help and some Ibuprofen.Good luck, Karen R ------------------

Hello Audie, I get the exact pain you do. Sometimes the pain in my side is overwhelming. And just two days ago I had such pain in my back I could not move. Hang in there and try the warm bath. And if you find any medicine that works let me know. I am searching. Dar

Audie and others: You know, back pain is what led to my diagnosis of IBS! Believe it or not, several years ago I went to the doctor for my back pain. We were heading on vacation and I was popping Advils (which can be constipating!!) and my MD took x-rays of my back. Back was fine - but she could see my backed up colon on the x-ray! And she asked about it. Then more questions about bloating, pain, etc. Actually I'd alternate between D & C. I'd had chronic D for years and 'poop poop problems' since I was young. My mom always said I had a 'nervous stomach.' Anway, back pain led to my diagnosis, or gave a name to my troubles! Just an little anecdote! Karen R
