Hi everyone!

I'll start by saying I have really bad leaky gas. I can't smell it but everyone else can, it happens so often in class and my life is a huge sh*thole right now because of it. But I think it's partially due to constant incomplete evacuation I suffer from every day, which causes a fecal odor. I have a pretty strong urge in the morning and then when I go, there's always (I Believe) so much left in there no matter how much clears out.

After that one urge, there's tingles in that area from time to time but never enough for me to relax and clear out in the bathroom (even when there's a significant amount in my rectum). I definitely think I have pelvic floor dysfunction but I'm not sure what to do about the incomplete evac as it's ruining my life further.

Thanks, and help!

Hi,

It's tough for me to speak to your incomplete evacuation issue. That particular sensation is not uncommon with IBS, but whether you are actually suffering incomplete evacuation or not is really more for your doctor to discover. You might try consulting your GI specialist or GP about this.

What I can speak to with personal experience are your concerns about pelvic floor dysfunction. One of my disabilities is Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, and as an offshoot of that, I developed pelvic floor dysfunction. You can very easily have this checked out by consulting a physical therapist. However, you want to see one who has a specialized interest in issues of the pelvis and lower spine. The proper examination and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction requires both external and internal work by the therapist, so it's not something just any PT will know how to do.

I hope that helps you some!
