I have ibs-C and also nausea, and since my symptoms get worse when I have my period, will the hormones in birth control aggravate my ibs all month long? I'm not on any yet but would like to...

I am birth control pills and have been for about 9 months now. Sometimes I think since they contain lactose that they make my IBS-D worse, but other times I don't notice a difference.I know for the first three months that nausea along with some other symptoms are common. If they don't stop after 3 months then you should go and see your doc about perscribing you a different type of birth control pill.Hope I helped!

I found that taking my pill with food helps reduce the effect of the lactose.Hope that helps.Sarah

personally, BCP's never changed my IBS in any way. however i am on a very low dose

I used to get really sick from the BCP's -- I started taking them with dinner -- and i've gotten 100% better.Good Luck!

BC hasn't had an effect, good or bad, on my IBS. I'm a C-type now, but have been D and alternating.
