Your doctor should have prescribed a drug called Pyridium along with antibiotics. It completely masks the pain and burning, but it does stain your urine bright red. There are also over-the-counter versions you can get at the pharmacy. I think one of them is called Uri-Stat. Even without this, bladder infection pain generally subsides 2-3 days after starting antibiotics.

Hi Nellie,Boy, UTI's are painful! Call your doctor for Pyridium immediately, he can call the pharmacy nearest you. I can't believe he didn't just hand it to you in the office. The over the counter stuff mentioned above works, too. I suffer from UTI's from time to time and the pain is to bad that just in case, I keep a refill in my medicine cabinet all the time. It also helps a lot if you soak in a nice, hot bath, it's soothing down there. Poor thing! Good luck.
