I have had a burning stomach for years and was diagnosed with gastritis many years ago.Recently I went to the Dr. and was given Nexium and my burning was MUCH worse.When I told him this, he said he thought I had IBS.From everything I have read on the internet I dont see any burning.I also have gas and some bloating,but my main problem is burning.He has told me to take Citricel.I havent tried that yet.But,my stomach is still burning.What can I do for the burning? and is this IBS?I have NO bowel problems.Does any one else have burning??

Some doctors call all functional problems IBS.I'd tend to ID it as maybe functional dyspepsia if the burning pain is up by the chest (the stomach anatomical location).If the burning sensation is lower, it could still be functional but that with no bowel symptoms would be more of a Functional Chronic Abdominal Pain.Did they look at your stomach with an endoscope?Have you had a blood test for H. pylori?Is this a GI specialist, or your regular doctor. It may be time to see a specialist.What happens if you take an antacid?K.

Thank you so much for replying to me.This is a GI specialist.I did have an endoscope many years ago and I had gastritis and esophagitis.So that is what I supposed it was again.And I did have the test for H.pylori years ago also.And it was negative.But it feels different this time.The burning is higher up between my breasts and it is worse when I sit down and worse when I take antacids.And is is mostly after I eat.I have an appt.next week.But in the meantime I just wish I could get the burning to go away.
