I'm usually IBS-D. I had really bad D on Sunday night and Monday morning. I took some Immodium AD to help me. I also didn't take my Citrucel on Sunday or Monday night since I was feeling bad. I starting taking one tablet a night again on Tuesday night. I still haven't had a BM since Monday morning. I feel like I need to go, but then can't. Has anyone else experienced this? What can I eat to help me? Thanks.

Hi Julee,I am IBS-C so I know what it is like to go days without. I find that Perdiem helps as far as that goes and it kicks in within 12 hours, so i take it at like 6 at night so it will kick in at 6 in the morning (before I have to go anywhere). I've gone up to three weeks without being able to, so I feel your pain about having to but not being able to. For me the full teaspoon is too much (gives me D). I have to take 1/2 tsp. and it is a litle less than I need but I don't have to worry about getting D. Then perhaps resume the citrucel.Good Luck,Kari

It's not a prescription. You can buy it anywhere you can buy laxatives. If you don't have a BM within 12 hours don't be discouraged. Sometimes it takes me two doses. For the longest time I was taking metamucil and found it never really did much. Also I should mention that Senokot works well too. That too you can buy in the laxative section. I think Perdium is more reasonable, but if they don't have that and you're at your wits end, Senokot is a great alternative.Good Luck. I sympathize with you!!!Kari

As long as it was on the TP and not throughout your stool it was most likely because you were C all this time and it was probably an external strain upon evacuation. I have experienced this as well. Kari

I think it was on the the TP only. It was only that one day, so it must have been from straining. I will mention it to my GI when I go for my follow up on August 1st. I'm finally feeling better after my horrible incident last Sunday!!!
