It always amazes me how we all have such different versions of the same things. I have always had back pain with IBS. About 4 years ago I started waking up with it every morning. Usually went away after a trip to the bathroom. That was about 3 years before I was diagnosed, I had no idea what it was about. Looking back, it clearly was a warning. Now I get them during flare ups too and those are even worse. Tying my shoes is almost impossible and it goes on for days or weeks at a time. The only thing besides ibuprofen that helps me with that is heat. I don't know if you can get them in Scotland, but we have these things called ThermaCare heatwraps that you can wear under your clothes, they fasten with velcro. They're thin and pretty comfortable, you can wear one for 8 hours and no one knows. It's low level heat, but it's not bad.
