Cat Scan today and scared about it!

Deana, Hi,i have had 2 in 4 years.Its really a piece of cake,you just have to stay still,and they will probably have you drink barium for pictures.I also had contrast,where they put an IV into my arm,and dye went into everything so they could get good pictures.One word of advice,the dye will burn,not hurt,but makes you feel like you drank warm brandy,it only lasts a minute or so.Good Luck! DeanaHonestly there is nothing to worry about at all.Apart from the barium - which I have no experience of - the CAT scan bit is dead easy and completely painless.You go into a long lighted tube like thing and have to lie still for awhile to take the picture (it can be a bit claustrophobic) but the medical staff will talk to you while your in there.I can tell you this with absolute certainty because my brother is a diagnostic radiographer and put me in there when I was 10 for a bit of fun.Good Luck,and don't worry!Clair
