I'm 19 (female) and recently diagnosed with IBS, though I've had the symptoms since I was ten years old. As a young teen, I purged a few times a week for a couple weeks at a time. My IBS symptoms (mostly severe constipation) didn't get very bad until I went to college, however. I am curious whether full-blown IBS (especially meat/dairy intolerance and constipation) can be triggered by bulemia.Thank you so much for your time!

I do not know of any studies that prove that you can have IBS as a result of an eating disorder. On the other hand there seems to be quite a few people on the main board that had an eating disorder and IBS afterwards. But, 1 in 5 people get IBS so one expects that at least 1 in 5 people with an eating disorder would get IBS even if they are not related in any way.If you purged with very large doses of stimulatory laxatives at least some people could develop a dependance on them and that can take some time to reverse.K.
