Not sure if anyone noticed that I removed the link for the chat room at this site, http://www.ibsgroup.org .I didn't receive much feedback about it when it was available on a trial basis. Can you please let me know if you think that the chat room is a good idea, even if it is used only occasionally. Thanks,Jeff

Hi Jeff,I had attempted to "chat" in the chat roomon various occasions but was unable to dueto software problems? The "chat room" option still seems like a good idea, if only I can get in! If I remember correctly, were there specified time-allotments for chatting? as it was only available in the evenings? If you received more feedback would you then re-implement it into this site? Thanks Jeff, for the extraordinary gift youve given us already! chat or no chat.LisaK
Dear Jeff, Again I agree with Lisa, we're just so happy this board exists. I went into the chat room a few times but it was empty so I just left. I haven't tried it in a while though. Take care, Loretta

Like others, I have gone into the chat room and found it empty. Perhaps we would have some success if we scheduled a particular time to meet in there--maybe a day during the week in the evening? What do the rest of you say?------------------"Do not go gentle into that good night" JANICE
I still think the chat room is a good idea. I also usually find it empty, but had been in it toward the end of the year (when i found this site). With everyones different schedules its difficult to catch each other, but i vote for the chat room.
It's a great idea but the first few times I tried to get in my computer crashed. Now I can't get in at all.
Sounds like I should put back the chat room. I will advertise it at the top of the bulletin board and see if that generates more activity. We can establish a schedule as it draws more attention. Thanks for your feedback.J*
Jeff,Is there any way to note in the "ad" at the top whether the room is occupied? Folks might be more encouraged to use it if they see there's already someone in there. Just a thought
Jeff,I tried on a number of occasions to get into the chat room but was unsuccesful. It is something I would clearly be interested in.Thanks,Jay
Actually, I'm having problems getting into the chat area myself. It might be that the site that we are coming through is firewall protected to not allow this type of traffic through.I will investigate further and report back.[This message has been edited by Jeffrey Roberts (edited 01-05-99).]
I have just installed a new chat room.It should be easier to access and use. Please let me know what you think.
Jeffrey,Thanks for the new chat room. It is much easier to access.Jay
I've decided that the new chat room software is really really bad. I'm looking into setting up a general chat room hosted at another site. Please stayed tuned.J*

JEFF, DO YOU HANDLE THE CHAT ROOM AS WELL AS THE BULLETIN BOARD? HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE BLUE ON THE BB BUT I CANNOT READ THE BLUE ON CHAT ROOM WITHOUT PRINTING IT FIRST. BY TIME I'VE PRINTED IT THERE'S NO ONE THERE. ARE THERE "ARCHIVES" AVAILABLE FOR THE CHAT ROOM OR THEY GONE AFTER ONE DAY? STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT DO WHEN I GET THERE. OFF THE SUBJECT--IS THERE ANYWAY TO MAKE A SUMMARY (OR WHATEVER) LIKE A SREADSHEET OF THE FOLKS ON THE BB--LIKE THE AGES, PARTS OF THE COUNTRY (OR OTHER COUNTRIES) # OF YEARS WITH IBS, C OR D, MEDS TAKEN THAT HELPED (OR NOT)ECT? THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WONDERFUL HELP!

Sorry, I didn't notice this thread when I wrote my question about the chat room. I was there last night and didn't have any problem with it, but others were complaining that it was giving them a hard time. Previously, I had been there a few times, but it was empty. I would like to continue to have a chat room. I like Janice's idea about scheduling, and Bill's idea about the "ad" showing if anyone's there.
I have created a chat room at Yahoo. They have a great environment. Note that you will have to create a Yahoo chat room id in order to access it. Please give the following URL a try and let me know what you think. The first time you connect to Yahoo create a login and password. Once you enter the Yahoo chat area, go to the following URL. You will not be able to find it in the chat listings. chat.yahoo.com/?club=ibsselfhelpgroup [This message has been edited by Jeffrey Roberts (edited 01-15-99).]

Hi Jeffery,I am a frequent user of yahoo chat and I think you have developed this room in the clubs area, maybe. At any rate, access is denied unless you invite people to join.If you know a persons "handle" then only members can invite them to join.If you will invite me, I will join.My yahoo name is umleila.... imagine that.
Thanks Jeffery, you are doing a wonderful job and letting the ideas flow.Umleila

Yes, yes, to the chat room. I visited it but no one was in there. It could be software and it could also be an advertisement issue. If you add a chat room again, just inform people that it's open all of the time, etc. and they will come.

i didn't do well with the chat room. i found the software, registration onerous. i also found nobody there, so there was no action. i like this format better. no live action but lots of activity and frequent updates. keep up the good work jeff.
