My pain starts out about 20 minutes after getting out of bed and taking a shower. My intestines feels like its tightning. Squeezing feeling that sometimes radiates to the back. Food makes no difference, nor BM's.

okay, my pain starts (atleast wakes me) at 4:30 in the morning and then subsides after 12 noon, then restarts in the evening until bed. my pain is in my left lower abdomin and is a sharp, stabbing, spastic pain. I am a teacher and I have been existing on a concoction of pain med (motrin 800 or a percoset), ativan and donnetal. the pain can disappear for an hour, sometimes more but i have not gone one day without it. the pain takes my breath away and is wearing me down lately. food and/or BMs do not effect. sound familiar? finally, i am going to have a laporoscopy. i know this sounds stange but i hope that they find something that is removable so that this madness will end.

Hi Breck,I answered your post on the other board before seeing this post next. I have constant pain as well, a dull ache in my lower tummy that never gets better (just worse at times), and doesn't change with bms.It is VERY frustrating!Cori

Flux, I am curious why you say "cough medicine"? In the meantime, I am going to look up the others! I have been lurking here for about 2 years, I know you usually have good advice (I vaguely remember a post regarding "trapped gas").

I guess I should ask if you were even speaking to me! Either way, I looked up the list. I am assuming the TENS unit was referring to the back pain? Both the epileptic med and the cough syrup have DANGER sites listed (I'm scared enough). As for the accupuncture, the only thing I know about it is it can get pricey.

Neurontin didn't work at all after one whole month of taking it. I'm familiar with the cough medicine only from an addict telling me about getting a good high off of it!!! Tens, looked in to it, but never found it to be used in IBS. Called 2 companies and they said I'd have to get a doctor's prescription for one. Thanks Flux!!Breck

Neurontin from my neurologist is probably not all that dangerous. I take 3600 mgs. a day. They only come up to 600 mgs for 1 pill so I have to take 6 a day. They can make you dizzy, and kinda weird feeling, but I take a very high dose. Oh I quit taking them now only when I need them, but they make me feel happy, and in a better mood. I'm not sticking up for anyone, but I think Flux enjoys this board, or he wouldn't help so much. He is a very helpful person, and can seem rude, but I think he probably laughs when we get ticked at him. There's got to be some kindness there, or he wouldn't bother with us. He won't respond to my sticking up for him, cause he doesn't care to I'm sure, but you gotta love him. I'm sure that will tick him off. If we could only see each other what would we think then.
