Hi,I've had a general diagnosis of "IBS" for about 3 years, and just cope with it as it comes and goes. Gross detail time! For the past week, I've been experiencing especially bad D with mucous, which turned bloody after the first few days. I called the doctor, who ran a scope of tests for different parasites and bacteria and other food poisoning bits, to no avail, so I got referred back to the GI specialist. This same GI specialist told me 2 years ago (when I was 19) that it's a small possibility that I might have colon polyps, which were causing my IBS symptoms, but he thought I was too young, and it wasn't severe enough to do any testing.Well, Tuesday I'll be going back to him, and I'm 99% sure he'll be ordering a Flex Sigmoidoscopy for me. Eek!Has anyone had one of these? What was your experience? And how did your diagnosis go? I know that there are a bunch of different conditions that can cause my symptoms (alternating C and D, excessive gas, lots of mucous and some red blood in stool), but polyps seems the most scary since they have the potential to be cancerous. I'm scared, both for the immediate procedure and the diagnosis. Any information or comfort would be great. Thanks!
