My GP has just written me a script for Zelmac for colonic inertia. Has anyone with colonic inertia found Zelmac to be helpful? I doubt very much that I will be able to afford the drug anyway as it would cost me over 30dollars a week ie. with two tablets a day and on a disability pension this is out of the question but if I thought it was going to be a miracle cure maybe I could just live on bread and butter and take the drug. But I will probably just stay on the magnesium I have been taking which has its problems but is way better than suffering C.

Thanks guys. The strength is 6 mg.I will probably leave the script in the cupboard for some time and go on suffering as how can I justify spending such a huge amount when I have spent so much in the past on health . Magnesium (which I learnt about on this site) at least gets me through life with reasonable quality and I am afraid of mucking up what is working for the first time in years and years, Does anyone know if age or length of time of having the problem affects the way Zelmac works?

I agree with trbell. If you don't have the money, wait. Does your doctor give samples? Years ago when I didn't have a lot of money the doc prescribed an expensive antibiotic for my daughter, I got it half filled and asked if he had something else he could give me. He gave me enough samples for the second half of Rx.
