Hi, all. Well, just when I thought my tummy troubles were so much better, 2 weeks ago I started getting this pain in my right side, I went to the doctor last week and the end result? I have to go for a colonoscopy tomorrow. So I drank the yucky stuff (phospho-soda in water followed by water). I honestly did not think I was gonna keep the stuff down...too salty!! But seriously I don't know how people drink a gallon of that thick stuff, I would definitely throw that up! Anyway, I felt nauseous, which eased up after about 10 minutes. Then, 20 minutes after drinking the stuff, it started. It did not seem so bad at first, but then it happened again and again and again, turning into the worst case of explosive D in a long time. Ok, I was able to deal with it (even though I have been soooo hungry at the same time because I was on all liquids today). But, umm, I started feeling "raw" in THAT area...and I literally couldn't go without yelling and screaming and crying (not too much though). My husband felt so bad for me and asked if he can do anything for me, but I said no. I called my sister and she brought over some A & D ointment that she uses for her baby to prevent diaper rash. I used it, but I still get that burning, discouraging me to wanna get rid of whatever is left in me, even though I have to and have no control so I of course do it anyway. Now it still hurts. Sitting is uncomfortable. How long will this last? Will it be better tomorrow? I am going to sleep for this test tomorrow, but I am still nervous. Any ideas from anyone? I don't ever wanna go through with this again, even though I know I will have to in the future. And I just know my doctor will find "nothing" and this will all be a result of my IBS. (although he thinks inflammation might be possible). Help!

Hang in there Missbonnie. the worst part of the test is the prep by far. Went through it last year for the first time ever and the test itself was a piece of cake! The new drugs they use in the I V literally block the experience out of your mind and you wake up not remembering a thing. Also, no pain.I made a mistake in trying to make the phospho preparation taste a little better by mixing it with juice ( as they say you can ) Big Mistake!!Good luck with your test but don't lose sleep over it....it is not a bad test at all. Hope you feel better. LoJack.

The worst is almost over. When I had a scope I didn't have to drink that stuff. I took a pill, suppository and drank Magnesium Sulfate and had probably the easiest BM of my life, oh if I could do that everyday. The scope itself isn't bad, I was asleep. For me the worst part was waking up and having to immediately get dressed. I was so groggy. Couldn't wait to get home and sleep. Expect to sleep until the next day.For the soreness, try a hot bath and vaseline or Prep H, which should shrink those roids. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I had my colonoscopy this morning, and it was not bad. I used A & D ointment last night which my sister gave to me, and it worked well. I have some gas and bloating from the test, but they said that is normal. By the way...my pain was IBS, nothing to be alarmed over, which was also good news. My doctor said I don't have to do this again for another 25 years (when I turn 50). By then I hope they have a virtual colonoscopy!
ANyway, I am just glad there is no inflammation. I was tired when I woke up but they let me go back to sleep for about 15 minutes, then about 30 minutes later I was ready to go home. I felt fine and my husband took me out for breakfast because I was so hungry. Then we went to the movies and then I took a nice nap. I am fine now, just a little gassy which is not a big deal
