I have been VERY constipated for the last 7 years of my life....in conjunction with that I feel like i have swallowed about 10 balloons every day. Always in my lower gut...sometimes upper after i eat. i read about fiber helping w/ the gas/bloating but not w/ constipation. Can anyone shed some light on this? I have acquired the nasty habit of pushing on my lower stomach all the time b/c i am so bloated and uncomfortable...i am at a loss as to what to do. i know a lot is trial and error. Thanks in advance.

Fiber doesn't help with slow motility constipation. Otherwise it is worth a shot. Generally foods with high fiber also have sugars like raffinose which are hard to digest and cause gas. Or if you have fuctose intolerance then fruits and veggies which are high in fiber and fructose can cause gas/bloating. Fiber supplements like Citrucel don't cause gas.
