Hi all,I'm normally an IBS-D person. I am wondering if this type of BM fits under the Constipation "C" category:This morning I sat there and released five or six small not-quite round stools. They were well formed however but just a little larger than what I'd call pellets. This was all that was released. They were also not as brown as normal, a bit pale. Now i KNOW this is not D, but does this fit under C?Are all pellet-like stools C? Are C stools always darker?ThanksJoe

Joe,I am D as well and do occassionally have these kinds of BMs. Didn't you recently change your regimin (adding fiber and/or Caltrate-Plus)? Let me know what your new routine is and that may help.-------------------Dan

I am IBS-C and have been C for 3 weeks, just started passing yesterday, exactly what you are describing. Small pellet like stools, I sit and only will pass one, then maybe 20 mins later will pass another one. They are well formed and light colored. I have alot of abdomenal pain, the pain doesn't go even after I eliminate.

DGG,I have added Caltrate Plus (2x a day: before breakfast and dinner) and Culturelle (once in the evening). I started both these about 4 days ago. And also, I eliminated soda from my daily intake.I must point out that I have gone through similar BM's before ever making these changes to my diet so I'm hoping for better results BECAUSE of the Caltrate Plus and the Culturelle.Joe
Well, Joe, if these types of stools keep up (no D just the hard pellets), I would cut back on the Caltrate. Maybe to one a day. Or you may try adding a bulk-forming fiber suppliment to your morning. Citrucel worked best for me (it's Methylcellulose is different from the Psyllium fiber of Metamucil). Since there is no directive, you'll need to experiment to find the best combination for you.Keep at it, you'll get there.-------------------Dan

Hi Joe, Oh yeah, it's C. A lot of what I used to get was what the GI called false D, the liquid slips by the C. Fiber has pretty much eliminated it for me but if I go low on fiber, I get backed up and start with the little pellets. I really did have real D too which was caused by fruit, etc. My C stools don't necessarily tend to be darker, it just depends, they vary in color as much as always. If you're upping your fiber to help this, do it very slowly. Jackie
