Anyone have experience with getting covid and ibs?

I had a bout where i was drinking alot of coffee a good 5 years ago and was in bed for a week with stomach pains ect.

I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with it then but tbh it seemed to resolve itself within a few weeks and i was eating what i wanted within a few weeks but taking a step back on the coffee somewhat.

then i got covid in march 2022 and the intial infection was strange but seemed to effect me differently than most. felt like a stone in my stomach alot, was off food for a good while, in bed for 14 days but no real lung/ coughing/ sneezing.

since then my stomach has been absolutely terrible!!! All the foods make my stomach so hard and only a very strict lowfodmap diet helps with the symptoms, ive been hospitalized with it twice the stomach bloating was that bad (literally couldnt stand up)

Had numerous tests for celiac disease, came back negative, but since giving up wheat my symptoms have become alot better!

The hard part is im a vegetarian and the low fodmap diet is already very restricted. I have some tofu in the fridge (the ibs friendly kind) but im just really stumpped as to what i can eat and what i should eat as to get energy in the day thats healthy

Im not sure even what to eat for tea, i cant have another jacket potato!!!! lol im so restricted its sad, i might just start eating fish . any vegetarians in here on what they eat ? its so hard!

I would advise anyone with ibs to stay covid free as honestly it made my stomach 1000x worse, its been a year since i got covid and the past 12 months have been miserable for me. lost around 10kg or so and just hate having no coffee/ bread or garlic/pasta !!! its so boring, i dunno how people do it !!!

yes i am trying to strictly follow it but its really hard to be fully committed to it. i can see how much a difference it makes but also i have no energy anymore and i find getting enough food in my diet hard ! i really thinking about eating meat again as that would make things alot easier as i know a few meats are low fodmap. i used to love fish, but its been nearly 30 years since meat so it is a bit overwhelming for me.

I will stick with it but i really wanted to hear there is some kind of magical cure that will make u have energy and no pain, but it seems that i had a terrible diet and i now need to learn how to eat proper foods.

Its so hard. having a mri/xray of my abdomen but i dont know if i should even go, i didnt know post viral ibs was even a thing until i read about it, its been known since the 1950's!!!

like i cant eat more potato tonight lol. thats all i seem to be able to eat :( is it worth buying to monash app? )

In Norway, we have an app called Noba, which helped me alot when i went through my low fodmap period. So i guess investing in the monash could make it easier for you.

Do you know how this started for you and do you go on any medications?
