Hi all,Well, my C that turned to D about 2 weeks ago is getting worse, and the cramping is getting pretty painful. It even happens without eating, which is definitely no fun. So I called and they want to see me at 2:45 today.I have diverticulosis and IBS so it could be either, both, or something else entirely. The belladonna isn't even touching the cramps anymore, and I woke up with them this morning. I'll let you know what they say.Jean------------------"Never let the fear of striking out get in your way." Babe Ruth. And I'm also Praying with Bettie for a cure for this NASTY IBS! Jean
Jean,I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I've had a lot of abdominal pain myself ever since taking antibiotics for the flu. Hopefully yours is just a nasty stomach bug that will pass. Let us know how you make out at the doctors.------------------"Today is the first day of the rest of your life"Rose
Hi Jackie, tequila, hmoots, Rose, sickofsick, K9, DolphinLady and Eric
. Thank you all so much for your wishes. I'm pretty new at IBS and diverticulosis so I tend to panic when something comes up. I decided to call the doc when after taking 2 Immodiums at 6 am I had D again at 8. Somehow that doesn't seem right. I took another and haven't had it since then, but I need to get checked.I'll be in touch later this evening when I get home. Thanks again for all your thoughts.Jean------------------"Never let the fear of striking out get in your way." Babe Ruth. And I'm also Praying with Bettie for a cure for this NASTY IBS! Jean
Sure hope you feel better Jean, and that the doc can help.Just as a side note...sometimes, when I've taken Immodium, it won't kick in for several hours and I'll get one or two more attacks of D before it does. Good luck and be well.
It's true that the immodium often takes a few doses to work...GOOD LUCK at the doctors' office. Did they talk to you about the diverticulosis diet? i.e. no seeds ets?
Thanks L'Danna, Granny, PoopedOut, NancyCat and Jean (another Jean
).The doc said that since diverticulosis and IBS mimic each other it could be some of both. She gave me lomotil in case I need it, and took me off Belladonna and put me on Bentyl. She's going to do some stool cultures to see if something is going on there. She's also doing a C. difficile Assay and Protozoa Screen. So tomorrow on my day off I get to lug my poop around on the bus in a brown bag. Yuck!Yes Jean (I feel funny saying Jean when that's my name too!) she did mention eating a bland diet for a while, but I'm still supposed to keep my fiber up.I'm supposed to take the Bentyl 3 times a day. I've only had one and I'm still cramping, so I guess it has to build up somewhat in my system. She said if I get worse to call her or go to the emergency room. Thanks all of your for your support! I hope this eases soon.

Jean, is she concerned at all about dehydration? Drink those fluids!! Now you got me worried about you!!! Take care of yourself and keep us updated please!
Yes, K9. She told me to drink fluids. Actually I don't get the D that much if I take Immodium. If I take 2 in the morning with my first D I usually have one more episode several hours later, then it stops. But it goes right back to the same thing the next morning. Please don't worry, K9. I'm sure everything is fine. The thing that made me finally go in was that the D has been dark, and I usually have light stool. So I worry about fast changes like that. She's concerned that the antibiotics I was taken might have done something. So we'll see when I get the results of the lab tests back.Jean------------------"Never let the fear of striking out get in your way." Babe Ruth. Hi Ellie:Thanks for your concern. Actually she doesn't think at this point that I have a diverticuli infection. I have to keep an eye on how I feel though. I've never had one so I don't know what to expect.I need a new body.
