hi there everyone just wondering what left sided pain is there for? i wake up in the morning eat then get stuck with incredible pains in the stomach. it never ends there though cause i'll have them until i go to the bathroom which takes awhile. it interrupts when i have to go out just about anywhere its driving me nutty! once i go i can never usually stop for the rest of the day then i end up constipated for 4 to 5 days and then i start all over again being the mother of two kids aged 3 and almost 2 yrs old is hard i can barely move somedays! dr gave me dicetal to help with the pain and constipation but i also suffer from bad headaches which i take 282 meps for they help that and some days seem to help running to the bathroom better than the dicetal do what other drugs are you others taking that help you? i need my life back im 23 and been suffering since i was 17 almost 18 which back then made it hard to even date. i got a little better at 19 or so and was good through my pregnancies which i hear is when its worse any advice?

I also am a mother of 2, ages almost 2 and 4. I experience the same pain you describe every time I go -- The pain is excruciating but once he stool passes I feel much better --for me I am blocked up to begin with - starts out like little pebbles and ends with a greasy mucousy diarrhea -to make things worse if I don't help myself go - as in using my finger nothing will happen - its almost like my colon has collapsed and needs to be reminded by touch to do its job -- the stool will actually pass my hand and fingers - Gross eh - been like this for 3 years ---- ever since I had my first baby -- now after seeing my original OB, 5 Gastro docs, another OB, 1 colon-rectal doc he sends me back to 3rd OB who is doing a hysterectomy with enterocele and rectocele repair on 2/28/03 -- you'd think my first OB would of seen my problems but you may of experienced the same runaround yourself. Maybe pelvic prolpase probs are causing this symptom you have -- I didn't even know I had a uterine prolapse till the 3rd OB. Seems there is something wrong in the medical community when your own doctors miss things so obvious - what sucks even more is Gastro doc and Colon Rectal doc think this will help me -- But not one OB I have seen agrees and does not think any of my symptoms are from this problems - This OB actally said to me, "I never said you needed a hysterectmy - I said we could offer you one." ????? That is the strangest thing any doctor has said to me. That doesn't make moving forward very comforting -- but I really want to get better and will do anyhing at this point. Hope you find the answers you are seeking -- good luck -- gotta go -- little ones want breakfast -- take care

Thank you for your post as you are the 1st person i have read about who has to 'help' their stool out. I too have this problem which started after the birth of my first child. I now have two. If I don't help then I am sure I would never go! Once I have passed a few pebbles I am normally ok and the stool then becomes quite soft. I have wondered about rectocele for a long time but nobody seems to think I have a problem in that area. I'm not so sure. I would really like to know how you get on at the end of Feb. Do let us know and lots of luck.
