Hi there.

I've posted numerous times here about this same issue. Although occasional, it's always a pain in the a** (pun very intended) so it worries me and I feel I need to ask for some info.

Due to shy bowel, I rushed with pooping a few days ago and I ended up with incomplete evacuation. Even though I did go again around an hour after that incident I didn't feel empty. And for the following three days I was left with horrible bloating and a bit of pain and I passed only a little bit of stool. I'm slowly getting back to normal as of yesterday but I still feel discomfort.

At a very specific part in my sigmoid colon. That's the main area I've been feeling the bloating anyway during this whole thing. The part on the left of the bladder, just before it reaches the rectum.

I was fearing of a minor fecal impaction. Do you guys think it might be something like this? Do you maybe think that something is left there? I went to my doctor, by the way, and he just told me it's simply bloating and gave me ibutin pills. But I'm still unsure to be honest.

Thanks in advance.

hi nomorepain

sorry you're having problems. i had problems with incomplete evacuation and yes, it's pretty miserable, isn't it--a nasty feeling.

i'm no doctor but i doubt if you have an impaction.

an impaction is when you go for a while, like a week or so, with no bm at and then all of a sudden you get watery diarrhea which is the body doing a sort of "self enema" by using the watery D to unblock things....

symptoms of an impaction include abdominal cramping and bloating, leakage of liquid or sudden episodes of watery D, small, semi formed stools, rectal bleeding, low back pain.

i imagine that if your doctor had thought you were impacted, he would have sent you for an xray. that's what my gastro doc always did.

hopefully you're getting back to normal now and have been able to go.

good luck with everything. hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the response, Annie.

The bloating is gone but I still get that feeling in my sigmoid colon just before the start of the rectum. As if something is there, as if there is pressure applied at that area and it's pretty annoying.

i am experiencing the same thing!!

just left of the bladder/pubic bone, feels almost like a trapped "ball" of gas/stool at times. but when things "move", the results are small and on the thin side and the sensation subsides a bit.

but at times it does feel like an incomplete movement and dull achey sensation that does get annoying. i sit and pray for a FULL movement just to "push" it all out so i can feel relief!! i can feel some sort of spasm or fluttering in that specific area at times so i am not sure if its muscle-related with spasms?

i posted a more detailed description back in june - https://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/topic/351106-trapped-gas-and-bloating-has-caused-pain/

i did go a period of like 4 weeks (month of Oct.) where i felt completely NORMAL and was regular. but one night a couple weeks ago, i was driving home and all of a sudden, without warning or doing anything, i got that sensation again!

just feels like i need a good full complete solid B.M.!!!

Thanks for your response! I can happily say that I'm finally back to normal. That sensation there is 99 percent gone. I still have some bloating but I'm almost completely rid of the pain in that area.
The ibutin pills that I was prescribed must have certainly helped as I've always had a problem with a sensitive bowel but I'm pretty sure that just like the reason it was caused, the reason it remained for almost two weeks was also psychological. Shy bowel and anxiety about making it go away surely contributed to it staying and getting stronger.
I now hope for it not happening again.
I sincerely wish you the best! I know how you feel (just like with everyone here) and I hope you'll also find some peace.

good you are making progress to feeling normal.

mine is weird, comes and goes, but it shows up in the same area. not sure if its some sort of mind-body psychological thing or not. As i said, i went ALL of October without a single symptom and i was my normal regular BM once a day after arriving to work. Then just randomly out of nowhere, not stressed or anything, the sensation returned.

Then my mind focuses on it, and the mind is a powerful thing. Its more of an annoyance that you know the 'sensation' is there. It appears with painless flutters, spams-like feelings, a sensation of "something there" or something in contraction.

weird.

I have a gastro appointment in a few weeks with a full on probe. haha. i guess just to rule out anything. My doc referred me to him. i was just hoping to sit with the specialist and discuss my symptoms but i guess he wants to "take a look" at whats going on and chat about symptoms before making a conclusion.

I have been also trying to pin-point if it is food related. i have never had any food allergies all my life, but as i got older, i did react to certain foods, mainly meat protein it seems. Excessive GAS!!! Then that seemed to turn into some spasming and then weird toilet results.

my Doc guessed possible IBS, or diverticulosis/mild -itis but the specialist can help narrow it down.

anyways, i try to relax at times as i am not an anxious person that i can tell anyways. i will sit with a heat pad on my lower left area (hip bone to pubic bone area) and it does seem to help along with the quiet relaxation techniques i have been working on.

but my only symptoms range from: fluttery spasm-like sensations, bulging stuck ball of poop or gas, dull-ache/pressure, but this returns some odd BM results.

Todays BM was AWESOME and a LOT!!! i had been waiting for one of these!! sorry for TMI, but man it felt good to finally have one of those!!

i do eat well, and try to take in decent amount of fibre and do take the occasional Peptogest peppermint capsule. not over weight or have any other health issues.

Anyways, i dont want to flood my system with pills and diet extremes, and anything shocking.

i guess i will have to wait and see what the Gastro Doc says. But man its an annoying sensation. Makes me irritable.

not sure if you have any recommendations or natural things to try.

Haha, I'm happy you had an enjoyable BM as you describe it.

I came to realise that what caused it for me in the first place is shy bowel, thus the cause of bowel related issues for me (bloating, abdominal pain, rectal discomfort etc.) is a psychological one. I do have a small problem with incomplete evacuation but I really need to find a way to deal with shy bowel.

Anyway, I don't really have to recommend anything in particular. To me, similarly, it just comes and eventually goes many times throughout the year, depending on also how well my BMs will be again based on whether I'm stressed and whether the stress causes me shy bowel.

I've used glycerin suppositories many many times to assist me with bloating and even tho they have helped on most occasions I don't think it would be appropriate to recommend them.

Just stick to what your doctor would suggest to you. Also, I found that eating a particular food regularly would slow things down. For me, it was red meat. Find out what foods you eat too much of during a week and cut down on them or even better replace them with a bigger variety.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope everything goes okay at your next appointment with the... full on probe situation, hehe. Cheers!
