I dont know what I have as of yet because doctors havent figured it out yet. Ill tell u my story:One day during the afternoon, I started getting this pressure feeling in my chest... as the day progressed it got worse, by nightfall, it was a sharp, sharp pain in the middle of my chest- where the rib cage meets in the middle...then it seemed to move around to my lower left inteestine. I was also constipated that night. The hospital that night couldnt figure it out. Now, Fast forward one month- Everyday I have gas, feel bloated, before breakfast i look slim, as the day progresses, I get bigger, and i can feel my insides hitting my tummy wall. Whatever I eat gives me pressure, and pain. A GI first had told me I had an ulcer. Another doctor then did an Endoscopy and saw no ulcer but saw my insides inflammed. Now tomorrow, im going in for a Sonogram, and perhaps a CAT Scan.My symptoms- Pressure, Gas, Bloating, feels like something "wedged" in my side, and occasional Constipation, not alot of Diarrhea, hints of blood in stool but nothing major.Any help will be greatly appreciated. I cant figure it out and it seems ALL foods make me this way.

Any help will be highly appreciated...If I can add-My first (and only major) attack i spoke about was on a Saturday. Earlier that week, on that Monday, I had changed my diet- More Fiber, Protein shakes, less fat, more little meals instead of 2-3 big ones. I was also dealing with a passing of a friends mother and funeral arraingements that Monday onward.I hope all this makes sense and I can somehow come to a conclusion to what I have.

hey,you sound an awful lot like me. i didn't have the chest pain, but i do have the feeling of something wedged in my intestines, just under my rib cage on the left side. i also get an incredibly awful toothachey stomach pain in my upper central abdomen that seems to be connected. i've been this way (before it was different, less severe) for the past five years and it just kept getting worse. i have d, c, bloating, nausea/vomiting, blah blah blah. anyway, what i wanted to tell you is that it appears as if i don't have ibs at all, but that i have celiac disease. do you know what that is? let me know and i'll tell you. you should be tested for it if you haven't been already.i'm sorry, it's late and i'm tired. let me know if you have any questions and i'll answer them when i have more energy and am a little more coherent.carrie

I have your symptoms exactly: pressure/abdominal distention/pain,left side/bloating. I start ok in the morning and by 4:00 I feel short of breath from the bloating. This started suddenly for me at age 40. I have had all the tests, including blood tests for Celiac, and all were negative. The GI specialist tells me I have IBS. The only point of concern I have in your post is the blood in your stools. This is not consistent with IBS. It doesn't necessarily mean anything serious, but make sure your doctor is aware of it. One other thing, you said you were drinking protien shakes. Check the ingredients, sometimes they contain psyllium, which is a fiber that can cause bloating in some people. (It is suppose to make you feel full). Good Luck
