Hi all,I have a bad cold, and I've been feeling pretty miserable but any kind of cold medicine usually irritates my stomach or intestines, and I was wondering if you know of any good cold medicine that won't cause too much nausea or D.I need to feel a little better so that I can sleep!! Sorry I don't. I don't usually get nauseated from a cold. Possible though if there is a great deal of drainage. However with the ibs if I have a cold there is a good chance that sometime during the illness I will have d. So are you sure it is the med and not your body that is causing the d? Just a thought for you to ponder? You know one more of those little ibs variables?

Have you tried Echinacea? It works for me. It says on the bottle to take 3 a day but my Dr friend told me to take 4 a day and it works better. My Hubby took Echinacea for a cold and his cold was gone in two days.

I take one tablet at a time of AlkaSeltzer Cold Plus, in a half glass of water of course. Then some Ocean saline nose spray for the sinuses and suffer through. I sleep propped up on pillows or in the recliner during the worst of the night and go around groggy all day. I think mine is on the wane.

I use tylenol cold for a cold and the Echenacia works great also it shortens the time you are sick. As for the Alka Seltzer Cold I believe it contains asprin and that could cause some stomach irritation. Sorry Boots. I think the tylenol cold also has a PM version which will help you sleep.Linda
