I just went to a specialist yesterday. Previously I tested positive for lactose and fructose. He didnt want to listen to my ideas about sibo. He was babbling about something in my hydrogen levels in the fructose test, so therefore I dont have sibo. All's I want is to be tested for it. I dont know what else to do. It can get very frustrating...as many of you probably know. Anyways, for the sibo test I think i need to do a lactulose breathing test. Is that all? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Well SIBO is diagnosed by the timing of when they see the peaks of hydrogen so talking about the hydrogen makes sense and they may be able to see it with the tests you already had, even though it is a different sugar...whatever sugar will lead to hydrogen production, not sure how effective these are against each other for SIBO, but it may be good enough. It does take time from a scientific meeting before things work down through the medical community, so I don't suspect all GI docs are gonna run out and do things based on what Pimental presented, it will take some time, unfortunately.K.

My GI won't test for SIBO, lactose, food allergies, fructose, etc. Only tested for giardia, thyroid, sprue. Has given me Librax, Donnatal, Robinul, even Zelnorm(which I'm afraid to take as I seem to be IBS A leaning more towards D) So taking Zelmorm seems a bit odd to me.I might have to go elsewhere, huh?
