I have noticed that sometimes when I kind of need to go that after one BM then 10 mins later I will have a very strong sense of urgency to go to the toilet again (which is much stronger than the initial urge). I was wondering why this occurred? Would fighting the need to go in the first place cause the sensation to dissipate (and therefore avoid having to go so urgently on the second occasion)?

That is common in IBS. You aren't causing additional damage by waiting to go.IBS sometimes you move things along too strongly for too long so may deliver the next load shortly after the last one went.

I find it rather normal. That's what happened to me sometimes: first poo coming out almost normal then the second one...very short after...very loose with much more urgency! I don't know what causes it but I think it is rather a specific problem for those with IBS.
