wondering if any of you are taking Go-Lytely for treatment of constipation. I intend to contact my GI to see if one can do this; i want to take a break from magnesium, which i have taken for 20 years. I have tried Miralax (don't know if it is exactly the same as Golytely); in fact i doubled the dose and the result was awful; felt like i had to go and couldn't and there was leakage; ugh

Go-Lytely is basically miralax with some electrolytes added. You can mix the miralax in something like gatorade.I don't know how likely it is to be different when taken at doses designed to help stools move vs completely clean the colon.Often with osmotics at lower doses it make take a few days to get stool moving if you really got blocked up before trying anything. If you take enough of either one you can get fully watery stools and a complete clean out.
