Does IBS get worse with Age?

I've had Irritable Bowel Syndrome for around 13 years now. Though I eat better and handle stress in a better manner, it seems like my symptoms get progressively worse. An example; after having sort of inconsistent BM since getting IBS, I've now consistently have light brown, textured and malformed stool (malabsorption?) as opposed to an on-and-off normal/abnormal stool. Are my symptoms just going to get worse and worse as I get older....Is that typical?

Some see it come and go over time, others find some ways to control it. In my case, things kept deteriorating over the 10 years I was afflicted. Since finding the supplement I have been using, it has been nothing but an infrequent annoyance for over 5 years. As we all know, medicine does not have one answer for all of us: you just have to keep experimenting.mark
I do believe that IBS does change a lot over time but it does get better with age. Even most doctors will tell you that. I have had it for 18 yrs and the symptoms have changed quite a bit. In my case it has become more psychological than the symptoms. Yes it is a lot of trial and error with meds and such, and like I said your sx will change over time. Hang in there and now you are not alone in this struggle.
