Dull ache in back...

Hello. I'm new here. For about the past 6 months I have had constipation, gas, and bloating along with some frequent urination. I went to the dr. last month and he checked my urine and blood and all was fine. He had me off all dairy for 2 weeks to rule out lactose intolerance. I was fine for the 1st week but the second week all my symptoms came back. He said if it is not lactose intolerance then it is probably IBS. I go back to see him in a couple of weeks. In the mean time I have noticed that sometimes I have a dull ache about where my kidneys are sometimes a little lower(usually on the right side but sometimes on the left) that moves around from my back to the front of me in about the same position sometimes a little lower (usually on the right side but sometimes on the left). I have also noticed that sometimes this goes away after I am able to have a BM, but not always. It also comes and goes. Sometimes I have this ache several times a day and sometimes I won't have it at all for several days in a row. I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this and if this could possibly be a side effect of IBS?Thanks!

I get this all the time. It all started last year January 25th two days after I had my son.I came down with a nasty bladder infection that shot up to my kidneys. I almost died.Well ever since then I've had the back aches that will go to my front (under the rib cage area on both sides). I also get bad cramps, bloating, gas, burping, heartburn, acid reflux, fatigue and I alternate between constipation and diahrrea (sp?).So, you are not the only one. I've had Ultrasounds done and they couldn't find anything. I also had bloodwork done (ok there too) and urine tests (could use more water - a bit foggy). They also found small amounts of protein in my urine when I was pregnant. This is called preeclampsia. I also have high blood pressure (from being overweight and I think smoking). So, I'm a mess and you aren't alone w/ the bloody symptoms. They cause me depression and anxiety. It never goes away.

Hi there missourigirl - new member too
snap! I get very aching sore back normally the right side. The worse my time is with C, i notice it aggravates me more. Massaging it eases it for a little bit, best if you can get a.n.other to do it for you !
stretching exercises help me too

Where exactly in the back? DO you get it in the upper, middle, lower region if so what area? The side, the middle or both?Mine usually starts to throb anywhere and will go to my front.

Hi chaps - yep me too and again, comes and goes sometimes even up around my shoulder blades - you kind of want to burp from up around there - bizarre - but fellow IBSers might know what I mean. I've had various sites for moderate/mild back pain, sometimes almost in my buttocks (love that word!!!). Point is I've had IBS for 10 years and I'm not dead yet, so please don't worry too much.Sue, Manchester
