Hi matt. Been there-done that. I have eaten all veggies, high fiber foods, lows carbs, no meats, drank enough water to float away, exercised etc. and I am still a mess. All doctors keep telling me is diet and exercise and that has not worked for me either. Maybe you should give it some time to let your body adjust to your new eating habits. I know it is frustrating. Please hang in there. Remember, there are others out there who know what you are going through.Take care and Good luck
Less carbs made me radically worse. Also, not all veggies are our friends. Try the dietary advice in IBS Relief (Burstall, 1998).
Hi Matt,In addition to trying to eat property, are you taking anything to help with the C? Such as fiber supplements, magnesium etc? I agree with Steve, not all vegetables are our friends. I find that cooked spinach really helps with my C. I buy it frozen and pop it into the microwave and eat about 1/3 of the package per day. Also, I find that eggplant, and all the squash family are helpful. I love broccoli and brussel sprouts, but they hate me, so I stay clear of them. Another no-no is corn. Some fruits are good, but others are my enemy also. I cannot eat grapes or bananas. I guess you have to experiment, and find the fruits and vegetables your body can tolerate.------------------"Remember To Stop and Smell the Roses"Rose (C-type)[This message has been edited by Rose (edited 06-26-2000).]
White rice and rice pasta back me up. I only eat brown rice and drink lots of water. I also eat potatoes and veggies galore, but no corn. Bananas back me up back, but oranges give me D. Red meat makes me C, salad gives me gas and C, steamed broccoli and especially steamed carrots give me good BM's, especially if I eat it with fish. In the morning I eat oatmeal a lot with rice milk (made from brown rice, no oil), and all day I drink a ton of water. It's hit-and-miss sometimes but I think I have the right mix going finally.

If you've recently made a radical change in your diet, you may AT FIRST, feel worse. If you give it time, like at least 2 weeks, then see how you feel.
When I first eliminated some problem foods from my diet Ifelt heaps better. I now find myself feeling pretty rotten again. I don't kmow if this means I have to eliminate further foods ( which I refuse to do, as there will be nothing left to eat), or whether the nature of this thing is that your body adapts to the changes made and eventually finds everything a problem food. I don't eat rice, pasta, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, corn and I am vegeterian, so it doesn't leave a great deal of variety. Having said that, I still think it's worth trying to eliminate problem foods to see what happens. The foods that trouble me might be fine for you and viceversa.

I was reminded yesterday by my alternative practioner about salt water for C. I had tried it before and I think I was using one teaspoon of salt in about 8 ounces of water. I don't remember it working. He said it probably wasn't enough salt and it doesn't have to be in water, can put it on food. Probably not a good idea if you have high blood pressure, but he is convinced it will work for C. I'm going to try it again.

babydoc,I feel the same way. There is nothing i can eat anymore that doesn't cause a problem. It is so frustrating. I can't have dairy and nuts as a given. Then i have to cut out all carbs etc on top of that. I just don't even know how to go about it. I tried adding more veges and using brown rice instead of white and more fruit etc. But i am so blocked up now i am ready to explode. Matt
