Eating Worsens My IBS-C

At 68 pounds, I cannot afford to go without eating for long periods, but I notice that if I do, my IBS-C eventually is relieved and my colon works and empties properly. I eliminate much more and more often, although I've eaten less. (A growling stomach seems to help C) When I eat more, I can hardly go to the bathroom at all, and everything piles up and stays stuck. Does anyone else find that eating more worsens C? This is such a dilemma for me since I am trapped having to eat more to get up to a safe weight.

HelloWell, of course the more you eat the worse C gets. But it's what you eat that counts. Stay away from fatty foods because they slow the passage of food in the GI tract. That does the trick for me most of the time. I know how you feel because on weekends, when I'm home, I eat more and find myself full. At 68 pounds you can't stop eating. Please don't stop eating because you can develop problems worse than IBS. Your fellow sufferer,Dmitry

I already eat a virtually fat-free diet and I'm trying to increase my fat a little to get more calories without having to stuff myself with other things. However, I have not noticed any compounded problems by eating fat. I heard some places that fats "lubricate" the colon. Anyway, it just seems odd that rather than slowing down all body processes, eating less would speed them up and vice versa.
