I lurk and read a lot of post here. I post when I think I can help or feel I know the answer. I am however disturbed thet many of the posters and the responders think IBS is root of all ailments, mental and physical. Those who respond to these post with yeah me too only cloud the problem. Some of these folks are looking for support to pn the blame on something and IBS is handy. These people may have other medical problems that need to be looked at. There are several saavy posters who say as much in their answers but there are many who dog pile on blaming everything from obesity to toothaches on IBS. These folks do not seem to listen to anything except the agreeable post. My point is please know a little about your response when you post to a thread with a me too. You could be a doing a disservice to the poster. For those who call a spade a spade Thank You. We need straight answers here not sugar coated and for sure not gut feeling answers.

"yea me too" answers have been great for me. I don't expect anyone to give me one answer which will cure all but a response like this shows that I am not the only one. A valid reason for people to use bulletin boards. Sometimes other peoples experiences show that your own are "normal". We don't know what is directly attributable to IBS but then nor do the medical professionals. AS is obvious from peoples replies we are all searching to find something to cure and the IBS symptoms are very varied and different to each of us. If someone says "yea me too" to me then I thank them just for letting me know I am not alone. It was a fellow sufferer (not a doctor) who put me onto something that has dramatically helped my IBS - so keep the yeametoo's coming.

Big Mike, I think posting to a BB is a bit like going to a buffet. You can choose which answers to your post you want to listen to. Some posts are asking just for support, not information. Others are genuinely seeking information, not just an agreeable post. I try to differentiate between the two as I don't want to add to someone's stress by trying to help them when they really just want support or to support them when they really want factual info.

I think I know what you mean, Big Mike. Sometimes I come to this side and see posts about how someone's big toe is hurting due to their IBS. (I'm exaggerating, but I don't want to embarrass anyone by using specific posts) I'm not a doctor or an expert, but I do sometimes shake my head.
I do agree with the others though. So many times I have been helped by knowing someone out there went through the same thing. When you see adults devastated b/t they defecated all over themselves, they need to know they are not the only one. I am not an expert to know all the answers, but I can offer someone comfort or advice if I have dealt with it myself. They can take it or leave it, but if it helps someone, that makes me feel good. I think I agree in part with you...but just not all the time.

Many people here state that they have multiple health problems but I don't think they all mean that they have them because of also having IBS. Sometimes I think it is more like ,Gee, I am dealing with this lousy IBS and I also have a,b&c etc. Then someone might respond 'Me Too'. I really don't see how that confuses the issues if IBS.

i agree with linr on this one. many people are just saying that it sucks that they have ibs, and they also have __fill in sickness here______. some people try and make a connection, but most people, like myself, are just saying, yeah it sucks. i have iritis, hayfever, lowerback pain, and eczema, but i dont for a second think any of them are linked together.

I probably shouldn't ask, but what does Scotty mean when he says IBS is the root of no problems, and that he is the only one on-to-it.I hope I am not wrong when I ask the question: what the hell are you doing on the board then, with the rest of us morons?

Hear Hear Mike! I agree with youThe 'me too' posts are useful for feeling understood on the things that are obviously major factors of ibs and have helped me loads, but some people do seem to be obsessing to much about the connection with different illnesses and looking to find answers in IBS for the other problems in their life. This is natural to tryand find answers and when you are feeling low and sick its easier to do this than to look elsewhere whicj would take perhaps more energy than that person can give at the time.I always try to be postitve to these people because thats what they come on the board for, its easy to tell which people are generally struggling and which ones are just wallowing.I just try to remeber that not everyone is a natural fighter and the people who do genuinely need a boost will maybe find it here and start fighting for themselves. Those who are wallowing in self pity won't do this because it means they will have tolook to themselves for answers and make changes.I just want to say keep going to the fighters and to the wallowers come on there is a whole world out there, full of people who are willing to listen to you if only you would get real!------------------Take CareEmGood, better, best. Never let it rest. Till your good is better and your better best.
