Hear Hear Mike! I agree with youThe 'me too' posts are useful for feeling understood on the things that are obviously major factors of ibs and have helped me loads, but some people do seem to be obsessing to much about the connection with different illnesses and looking to find answers in IBS for the other problems in their life. This is natural to tryand find answers and when you are feeling low and sick its easier to do this than to look elsewhere whicj would take perhaps more energy than that person can give at the time.I always try to be postitve to these people because thats what they come on the board for, its easy to tell which people are generally struggling and which ones are just wallowing.I just try to remeber that not everyone is a natural fighter and the people who do genuinely need a boost will maybe find it here and start fighting for themselves. Those who are wallowing in self pity won't do this because it means they will have tolook to themselves for answers and make changes.I just want to say keep going to the fighters and to the wallowers come on there is a whole world out there, full of people who are willing to listen to you if only you would get real!------------------Take CareEmGood, better, best. Never let it rest. Till your good is better and your better best.

I just don't get what the big problem is here. You don't want anyone saying "Yeah,me too" to anything they might have that someone else has because they might not know what they are talking about ? Or that they are wallowing in self pity ? What exactly are we suppose to talk about. Not all of us are scientists or doctors. I really don't see alot of cases of people trying to diagnose others here. Seems to me that most are coming to this BB to share their experiences hoping to find someone who may have something similar and may have found some relief for.And where do you find people blaming every ailment they have on IBS? I think it is that some may have IBS and many other things also. Whether there is a connection or not what is the harm in discussing this ? Why can't you just take whatever information you find useful and just ignore all the things that bother you?

I AGREE WITH LINR !!!!! What a relief to know that I am not alone as I thought for so many years growing up with this illness and noone not knowing what was going on....sometimes we have to accept people for where they are...and their conditions they have...Who knows one day it maybe one of us........------------------"If you always do what you have always did, You'll always get what you always got "

LisaLI was just being silly with Mike. He has a sense of humour on this BB.
No disrespect to your levels of "on-to-it'ness".Although I do see some dodgy thinking from some who speak a little too strongly.Mostly I just ignore it.Occasionally I get an overwhelming need to speak out.Furthermore, I do know that I have stumbled across two systems that are amazing, fundamental and revolutionary. Sadly I didn't create them.
In theory they sound intriguing but more so in practice as they are curing a lot of people. Such people were told they have "IBS". They then managed symptoms NOT THE CAUSES with coventional or the majority of alt medicine. After going to these other two avenues they were cured of the problems that were put under the label of IBS.My point is that one could say "maybe they didn't have IBS". But everyone who was ever told they have IBS has subsequently been able to identify a specific cause or causes which explain away the need for such a label.I have not seen someone labelled with IBS who has come away from these two areas still needing to retain an IBS label (as well as symptoms).I therefore think IBS is the root of no peoples problems. Unless we all agree that IBS is just a meta-label and all agree that IBS does not deny specific varying causes that can be tested for and eliminated so that subsequently one doesn't fit into the meta label.Lastly, LisaL I stick around this BB because I believe IBS is just a label and I am in a position, more than others, to know where the answers to people's specific causes lie.I would hate to think that this BB would be left to the sole domain of people like Flux. This BB is not a place for Medical text readers to solely dispense ideas. It is a forum to share ideas and possible solutions on what has worked for people (as well as comfort and a forum to relate).LisaL: That is how I justify living the life I do and hell yeah do I feel vindicated (especially seeing what I see outside of cyberworld!).ScottySwotty

Well if the person really does have it also, I don't see anything wrong with saying "me too". Everyone is responsible for their own health. If someone is stupid enough to say "Well I got 5 "me too" responses to my post about nail fungus, so I guess I can just chalk it up as IBS related and call it a day!" then they are in denial and have a lot more problems then IBS! This is the internet! Yes we learn a lot of helpful tips and such from boards like this. But really it should never take the place of seeing a DOCTOR. Everyone should know that. And it's not the fault of the person who said "me too!" if others are that dumb. JMO[This message has been edited by Homebound (edited 09-28-2001).]

Just a thought here before anything big erupts...can everyone be a wee bit nicer and more tolerant of other's views. (whether you agree with them or not) There really is no need to call people any names or "shout" at them.
Remember this is the internet and so often we mistake someone's meaning on something or take something the wrong way since all we see is type.
