Hi everyone! I don't see very many postings about explosive diarhea. I am sure I'm not the only one with this. Every time I have d, I totally explode. What a mess! Seriously! I go through baby wipes like there is no tomorrow. First myself, then the seat, under the seat, etc... Is this considered a "normal D"?

My first year with IBS was like that. I remember well wiping down the loo...not fun.Have you tried fiber therapy?Here's a good starting point for info on taking fiber for IBS(you need to take alot)~../supplements/sol_fiber1.aspAlthough working up slowly to high dose didn't work for me. I had to go right to the high dose & be uncomfortable for a couple of days...I also tried every diff type of fiber available before finding one that worked for me--metamucil(psyllium). Now I just take unsweetened psyllium from the healthfood store. Everyone's diff though, so really, really keep trying the fibers till you find the right one for your body.Probiotics alternated with natural antibacterials also help...Good luck!! I have had Explosive diarrhea in a crowded elevator , I have had it while driving in a car , I have had it running to the bathroom , I have had it at a Campground on a trip , I have it anywhere at any time.Try being far from home and having this happen.Nothing like driving home in pants full of #### !!

Thanks for the response. My doctor recommended Prodiem Bulk Fibre Therapy. It sometimes gives me relief but not much. I've had IBS all my life but I used to have IBS-C. That was no fun either. For the last 15 years now I have IBS-D and I always explode. The worse my nerves are, the worse the D is. Typical. I will follow up on the link you sent, maybe that will help. Thanks for the info.

LOL, don't mean to laugh Glenda but you make it sound so normal.

I had an episode where I was really stressed about going to work. Wouldn't you know it! I did it! All of a sudden I felt wet and hot. I pulled over and put my hand in my pants to find out what was going on. I discovered I had dirtied myself. I had a 45 min. drive back home. I stank, was miserable, dirty hand included! I hadn't even passed any gas. Don't know how it happened! The good part is my doctor put me on medical leave and I never had to go back to that awful job.I haven't worked outside the home since. I still can't figure out why it happened. Especially because I never felt a thing.

A few months ago I went to the casino and had 2 glasses of wine (heavenly). On my way home the D was so bad I had to stop alongside the road. I pulled down my pants, squatted, the proceeded to tumble into a gully I hadn't seen. (it was dark) I rolled and tumbled in it!

I was also nauseous and puked. By the time I got back in the car, I had removed most of my clothes not to soil the car.Imagine my rush to get back home. I was speeding a little. I let the Police follow me right into my driveway. There was no way I was going to stop. As the cop came to my car, he had one look at me and understood that I was ill. I didn't get a ticket, thank God!I was so embarrassed! It is kind of funny though.

I still hate ditches!

For me , crapping my pants out in public is getting to be a normal activity. I am to the point where I end up taking extra clothes with me in the car.Having this happen around people is dreadfull.Doing it in the car is bad enough , but in a crowd is Panic time for me.Why does this always happen in public places ?But , I have crapped my drawers on the way from my couch to the bathroom too.My poor husband feels so bad for me , and suggested I wear : depends.

I've had a number of blowouts.. A couple at work. Only one was really bad.. I was wearing kakhi pants, and passed gas.. got a little more than gas.. and when i say a little, i really mean a lot.I just walked very quickly down the steps and left.. went home and cleaned up, changed and came back. I don't think anyone noticed, but i wasn't slowing down to check.

Why don't we wear depends? I feel like I am not ready to wear diapers! Why do we suffer embarassement instead?

I of course would prefer not to, but right after an accident, it seems like a good idea, before i throw another pair of underwear in a restroom trash can.

I have also had D most of my life but after a colonoscopy about three years ago it got reallllly bad. I guess it triggered some sort of spasm. I would also have no warning. I could be sitting on the couch and it would just start comming out. The toilet is about 30 feet from the couch and I did at least clear the bathroom door before getting it on anything but me and my clothes. Thank goodness the tub and towels were handy. It sure did keep me home and also kept me from having company for awhile. Linda's calcium was a big help and at least I would have a LITTLE warning before a complete blow out. I am much better but still can have a problem with no idea what triggers it. We had a sandwich at Quiznos yesterday and I even took an Imodium ahead of time but still had to go in a hurry about an hour later. It is so hard to know what is going to set you off one time but maybe not the next.

I have washed my new drawers out in the toilet and then thrown them in the washer.I have thrown many new undies away.I have the runs today , again. Throwing up bile. Pee'd my pants throwing up.I am having a BAD anxiety attack.I wanna die.

Divinity , you are such a sweet caring person.I appreciate it alot.I made a doctor's appt. for tomorrow at 9:45 am.The doctor needs to help me in regards to my anxiety attacks. I am almost too embarrased to mention I wet myself alot.I also have a rare tumor disease called >Neurofibromatosis . I have dozens of spinal tumors that hurt my back really bad.I have alot more BAD days then good.I appreciate your willingness to listen to me moan the blues.Thankyou.Glenda

Hi Divinity , I saw my doctor and she is not sure what is causing all my strange bathroom habits. She said stress and anxiety can cause it too. Well I do get anxiety attacks quite often. I think my overall general health is just poor and has been since I was a little kid.I think I will look at Wal-Mart (Wally's World)for adult pull ups.I tend to get urinary tract infections if I mess my drawers because of stuff leaking into the urinary tract. So I am not sure if Pull up's are a wise choice either.I know I sure need them though. Just for the wetting issue , if not for the runs.Today > No runs , yet. Hi Glenda, I haven't had any D for 3 days now. I think it's because of the Ibuprofen I've been taking for gas pain.I"m glad you talked to the doctor.I"m going to try the pull-ups too. I haven't been out since last week so I haven't picked any up. What do you think about pictures of us in pull-ups for an IBS calendar!!

I figure if I laugh at the situation, it makes it easier.Hey, maybe this "no-D" for a while is running!
