Hi! Since I have not been feeling well the last few weeks, I have had mainly had problems with BMs. I have been eating the Ezekiel bread and it has improved that situation tremendously. My question is does this bread cause bloating? I have not had that symptom at all, but tonight I look about four months pregnant! I can only chalk it up to the bread and the triscuits I have been eating!Any thoughts?

HI terrifictwo:I don't know about the bread, but if you are anything like me you can't stop at just a few Triscuits! I love those things and can't bring them into the house or I'd eat the whole box in one night.Do you retain water easily? This past year I have started to (doc just put me on diuretics), and find that if I eat too much salty stuff I bloat up. Do you think something like that can be going on with you?How much of the bread are you eating? If you are eating a lot more per day than you are used too, you may be adjusting to the fiber. It's 3 grams per slice.JeanG

Hi Jean,No, I don't normally retain water. I really don't feel gassy either, just big! The funny part is that over the last few weeks, I have been obsessed with the fact that I had lost my little tummy and that I was possibly losing weight!I have been eating 2 slices of bread a day, usually one for breakfast and then one in the evening for a snack. Today I tried using the two at lunch together for a sandwich. Maybe that has something to do with it. I am really thirsty right now, so maybe the salt from the triscuits (can't eat just one either!) isn't helping. Is bloating a symptom of IBS?

Hi TT,Are you drinking lots of water? The more fibre you eat, the more water you need to drink. I think it breaks it down or something. I eat Manna bread and lots of Triscuits too and drink about 10 glasses of water a day.Yes, bloating appears to be a symptom of IBS (from reading others' messages here).Fiona

HI terrifictwo:Yes, bloating can be one of the symptoms of IBS. I only mentioned the salt because that has been causing me water retention and bloating problems lately.Try drinking more water, like Fiona mentioned. I hope you're feeling better soon.JeanG

If those are the only things that are different, it's probably the Triscuits. Try not eating them for a couple days and you'll have your answer.

Bloating is my ONLY bothersome IBS symptom. I am IBS-C but somewhat "addicted" to milk of magnesia, so I now alternate D and C. The bloating often leads to nausea, but sometimes I just feel like a candy apple on a stick. As a male, I don't look "pregnant." The bread really made no consistent difference. I also feel like a hot air balloon a lot. Fiber and specific foods don't cause specific reactions. I just feel differently every day.
