Hey Kathleen, I've seen that you've been telling alot of people about TMAU and how it could cause FBO, I believe that you said TMAU is more of a body odor and can be emitted through your sweat glans. But for me the smell I constantly am smelling is definitely coming form my anus. I know for a fact. It comes in small wiffs, and always smells exactly how my farts would smell. It's almost like I will know beforehand what my fart will smell like. I've also read about how you have told people that if they think the smell is coming from excessive gas they could take pepto bismol. I would try this but I have IBS-C and I think this could makes matters worse since I have heard Pepto can worsen constipation. So my question is, would you know any other alternatives I can try to stop this horrible smell from coming out of my anus? Thanks in advance for your time:)

Have you tried a low sulfur diet?If you can't block the gas after it is made, don't give the bacteria anything to make the gas from. You need some protein, of course, but you might try limiting portions to 3 ounces or less per meal. Avoid high sulfur foods like onions and garlic.http://livingnetwork.co.za/chelationnetwor...phur-food-list/ might help select foods. You might do OK with a pretty low dose of pepto bismol and it is fairly mild on the constipating side of things and a magnesium supplement 400-800 mgs per day may be enough to counteract the effect (and may make the constipation better as well). The studies went up to 8 tablets a day, but some people get and effect with just one per day.You might try chlorophyll tablets. They used to use them to try to keep odors down in nursing homes, they don't constipate, and you can take enough to turn the poop green without much of a negative effect. They don't seem to be that effective, but it may help.

Just another idea to try, if you're not doing so already, take a finer supplement that doesn't cause gas, I've read of a soluble fiber supplement that does that, along with a insoluble fiber supplement, drink more water, and take the pepto-bismol or Devrom to decrease the smells.
