I haven't been on here for awhile..because I've been feeling so much better...not perfect..but better. I'm taking 20mg of paxil in the mornings. I have IBS D and have had, for 20 years. I still take immodium occassionally. My life is much more manageable on paxil... way less bathroom mapping! I truly believe the serotonin levels in the brain-gut connection affect ibs. I've gained 8 pounds in 5 months but hey....its been worth it.

I've read others who got help taking Paxil. I'm thinking of trying it. My doc is okay with it. How long did you take it before noticing improvement? Thanks!
Paxil has antianxiety properties and I think that really helps. Many people with IBS have anxiety and so treating the anxiety can help lessen the symptoms. Right now I am on amitriptyline but I might switch to paxil if this one doesn't work.
