K: For several years, I eat a cup of super-high fibre cereal in the morning washed down with caffeinated coffee. That would keep me fairly regular but I had lots of gas and bloating. Recently, I saw a g-i who told me to cut that out and go on Citrucel (2x a day) which I've done. It seems to have helped with the gas but I am now totally C which I'm resolving with suppositories or enemas. It is very difficult to stay the course with this treatment when it doesn't feel like it is going to get better. Will it? Am I not getting enough fibre now? How do I increase my fibre intake without a high fibre cereal and running the risk of gas and bloating? I've added Miralax but that just creates bizarre gurgling and unsatisfying BM's. Also added magnesium but I don't see any benefit. HELP!
