i finally made the 4 hour drive to see a doctor,he did not even examin me,just looked at my chart and said yah its ibs and nothing we can do but try a med my family doctor already tried,i told him that med did not work and he said thats all i can do,then told me to come back and see his nurse in 2 months and i said why bother,i then went back to my family doctor and he told me that we wont give up,that we will keep trying med combos till we find one that works.when did these so called specialists stop caring about our pain?i will stick to the family doctor from now on.

Well after a diagnosis is reached.... the treatment(s) are kinda up to us to try and err with. Everyone is different and there is no ONE treatment that helps us all. I'm sure the Docs are frustrated by this too but... (And that frustration can come off as exasperation, impatience etc... so please don't take it personally)right now this is just kinda the way it is. If you were going to him for a 2nd opinion.. that's what he gave you. If your Dr wanted other testing done or suspected you were suffering from something else.. he should have communicated that to the specialist. But, in any event, apparently your symptoms fit the IBS profile to this specialist. So continue to work with your reg Dr on treatment strategies. Most people find several treatment methods working together usually helps the best.
