Hi,I live in Southern California (Riverside County) I have Medi-cal insurance IEHP. I have been under the care of a GI dr who believed in Intestinal Bacteria and I have had the Hydrogen Breath Test Twice and came back positive and was treated. Well... this DR does not take my insurance anymore and I didnt realize it was going to be such a nightmare to find a dr who believes in the bateria/testing and treatment.I was referred to a new GI Dr and my appointment was a nightmare. Not only did he want to do a rectal exam (which I didnt need and was not there for that) I had just had a colonoscopy 2 months ago.. He doesnt beleive in treating intestinal bacteria!So I need help!! can someone give me a list of DRS that they know use the Hyrdogen Breath Test as a diagnosis and treat intestinal bacteria in Riverside California??thanks...

Do you have a primary physician? Maybe they can continue to treat you for the overgrowth? I'd explain to them your situation, give them copies of your results from the GI and let them know it can be a recurring problem. Maybe they'll go ahead and prescribe something for you.

My primary has stepped in as well as a friend who is an infectious disease specialist. I simply say, I need my antibiotics refilled Dr. X no longer takes my insurance and I have ANTIBIOTIC RESPONSIVE DIARRHEA. That term (there) has saved me from the trouble of using SIBO which some docs do not believe is a disease at all. (They should quit their speciality in my opinion.)

So did the Dr who believed in bacteria treat you or did he/she just give you a breath test?

Yes I have been tested 2 times once on Xiafan for 10 days and the second for 14 days. right after I finished the 2nd round the GI Dr said they were not going to take my ins anymore and I needed to find another DR to do the breath test a 3rd time. I know I still have bacteria.. as soon as I was off medication my symptoms came back... here I am a month later and STILL NO RETEST OR TREATMENT. my primary DR wont perscribe medication and NO specialist that take my ins test/treat! so now I just sit here mad... cause I need care and Im not getting it! I have filed a complaint with the california department of HMO.
