Hi, Jane.I've been on a diet for about 6 months that is really helping with my IBS (I have "D" type). It basically avoids all grains, lactose, carbohydrates and potatoes. It also disallows complex sugars (so you only get honey for a sweetener) I've also learned to avoid all artificial sweeteners, like sorbital, which really gets me going. If you want more details, email me and I'll give you the whole history and results I've had.I've had IBS for 30 years and this is the only thing that's really helped me, I hope it'll help you too. ------------------

Hi Jane, just to follow up on the other post, I think that if you eat the proper diet like lots of fiber, water,no spicy foods, no fried foods, no corn or dairy products, no chocolate or caffein. Try to rest after every meal it helps with the digestion. Hope this helps youChantal

Hi jane. From what I have learned on this BB, every body is different. That is, foods that bother one person may not bother another. You have to really find out for yourself which are your trigger foods. For me, it's caffeine, dairy, and greasy food. Try to eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water. It took me a while to figure out which foods to avoid, so don't be discouraged if it takes awhile. Also, I know you don't want to here this, but it really is a good idea to see the doctor. He or she can rule out other more serious diseases, which may have the same symptoms as IBS. Good luck!!! And remember, all of us on this BB are here to help. K
That is right, everyone is different. Keep a diary and see what happens. It could be as easy as too many calories in one meal. Eat small meals, and see what happens. Smaller meals throughout the day, and becareful with the fried foods. Write down what you eat and see what happens in 1 or 2 hours after. But the smaller meals might help, as others. Also some of us have taken acidophilus, (helps digest (break down) food . Could help, ask the pharmist at any store - Walmart or Kmart. You can buy them all over. GNC too. The one I am taking you have to keep in the frig, others you don't have to. It has helped me. Good Luck Terio
