Depends on the problems you are having, and your mileage may vary.Usually the problematic fruits are the ones that have a bunch of sorbitol in them when they are raw (canning helps get rid of that because it doesn't survive the high temps very well).Citrus fruits do bother some people, but have no sorbitol, but I don't know of anything that make them generally bad for IBS, like the sorbitol issue (enough sorbitol will give anyone diarrhea and gas, but each person has a different tolerance level)Fruits with sorbitol: (note a problem raw, much less when cooked or canned)Peaches/Apricots and all Peach like relatives (nectarines, etc)PearsApplesPrunes/PlumsCherries.So Melons are good as they don't tend to be high in sorbitol. But your mileage may vary. If you can do canned peaches then fructose may not be a big issue for you. Some people find this sugar that tends to be prevelant in fruit (thus the fructose...or latin for fruit sugar
) Some people are OK with some fruits but can't do high-fructose corn syrup.Watch out for fruit juices. Many are sweetened iwth HFCS or if 100% juice with apple or pear, and that can make them problematic.K.
