Gas

Every morning, I have tremendous gas. Typically, I pass this gas while lying in bed, and usually it precedes a BM. I take metamucil (somewhere between a teaspoon and a tablespoon) every morning. When I'm not able to pass the gas, my gut hurts until I do. Drinking coffee triggers a BM very quickly (why?). Anyway, just looking for info on how to reduce gas. Also, has anybody tried the Advocare products for these symtoms (I'm thinking about it).

Gas Man - boy can I relate! You can call me Gas Woman! I have really bad gas in the morning too. I don't know how to stop it but I have less severe symptoms when I cut out sugar and starchy foods (except rice - I do ok with rice). I have tried fiber a few times and it makes my gas worse. I was trying flax seed fiber, but had really bad gas with that so I quit. I don't think I gave it a fair chance - only 4-5 days. I had to stop though b/c of social activities. I will try again one day. People say that eventually you get used to the fiber and the gas stops but I want to know when. It seems that I'll never get used to it, and I'm not sure how long to take it to see if it works. Maybe you should try another fiber. Maybe Citrucel or flax fiber would be better for you. I don't think coffee helps. I suggest you cut that out of your diet. Caffiene seems to stimulate the bowls - at least that is what happens with me and my husband. I have cut out all coffee, tea with caffiene (I just drink herbal tea) and sodas from my diet. What is Advocare? I've never heard of it. If you try it, let us know how it works for you. Good luck!!!!!

Thanks Kitty. I'm going to increase my dosage of metamucil becasue I read on another webpage that I should be taking 2-3 heaping tablespoons per day. I'll keep you posted. FYI, Advocare is a line of natural supplemts sold in a fashion similar to Avon or Mary Kay. One person I know who has IBS said it "cured" her. It's rather expensive though, so I'l try the incresed fiber therapy first.
Watch out not to increase your fiber dosage too fast. Make sure your body is used to the teaspoon before you go to 1-2 heaping tablespoons per day! You may get more gas than you know what to do with if you don't increase it little by little!

Dear Gas man, and gas woman.I have the worst case of gas that anyone has ever had to smell.
I have mine all day long. I have more gas when I don't watch my diet, but have the bad smelling stuff all the time. Guess what I am trying to say is when I pass large amounts that really make me feel like I am fermenting it isn't as offensive as the small amounts that seep out all the time.
Nothing I can do for it. I have tried so many things and none seem to help. You want to be careful how you throw away your $$ I spent big bucks trying something that I heard would be a sure cure.If you know this person and she is not selling the product you might want to take her word for it. One thing I found out, there are always people out there trying to sell something and they don't care if you are helped or not. They want your $$$$ ------------------ Don't make ME come down there!!. GOD

Hi! I also am a huge gas sufferer. My doctor says it is from consipation, but I am not convinced. I recently started to take Citrucel. I take it in the morning with warm water. It seems to work without much gas. Give it a try.I also started to take Creon with my meals. It does cut down on bloating and gas a little. It is really expensive. Good luck.
