I've been dealing with IBS-C for several years now. Usually it's controllable but it seems that every flare-up is preceded with an increase in my GERD. When the GERD increases it seems that there is a dramatic increase in the volume of acid in my stomach. Sometimes to the point where I feel like I am going to choke on phlegm. Then my IBS-C symptoms increase dramatically. Does anyone else have this pattern?

That means the medication that you are taking is no longer effective. Actually, PPI's by nature, temporarily block the acid, but the acid continues to build up. Of course, they are not going to tell you because you would be reluctant to buy their expensive medication. There are number of them. Some are stronger than others but they all stop working at a certain point. I have taken every one made and have learned from experience. Since I began taking digestive enzymes, I no longer have to use them. However, like most products some are much more effective than others.Good Luck
