Every GI has different opinions. You will have to try out what they AND you think is best therapy to try. I have IBS-D and I have been through 3 GI's and certain ones do not believe much in anti-depressant drugs for IBS, yet the other 2 praised them. Good luck and just be honest and open with him about your problems and YOUR ideas about therapy.PS- My GI is BOOKED, so I have to wait awhile to see him so what I do is write down how I feel a week or so before my appointment and print it up for him. Not a long journal LOL just a few things here and there..really helps!
