Im 18 male and ever since I turned 16 as ive got older ive been needing the loo more and more as time has gone on. Aged around 16 I started noticing I was going 1 or 2 times more a day and now im 18 its got to the point where somedays I can go to the loo 10-15 times a day! Its really affecting my life, i cant have girlfreinds, I cant find a job as it would be too embarasing. My life is controlled by this, I cant have a social life as im stuck at home needing the toilet. This is every day of my life and I really just wish I never got this problem as my life is so boring now. Ive been to my doctor for 6 months, im on 3 different drugs including: Merbatyl syrup to stop stomach pain, Immodian and amitriptyline. The Merbatyl syrup doesnt really help, the amitriptyline doesn't do anything. The Immodian does stop me going to the loo for a good day, but that just clogs me up and would be no good to take everyday! I dont know where to turn, I dont know it even is IBS? My doctor says its IBS but I never have diarrhea or anything, just simply go to the loo normally 10 times a day! Please help thanks

Swett Suffolk Welcome! One thing with imodium.. I have found they work best for me if I break the tabs in half and take them WITH meals to prevent Diarrhea. Another option is trying Calcium Carbonate Supplements. (Must contain Calcium carbonate)Here is a thread about the Calcium:The very first post on this thread explains the dosage etchttp://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/index.php?s...t=0&start=0On page 68 of that thread someone from London, Member nmed ZPE, mentioned that they use the "Calcium (600mg) plus Vitamin D (3µg) Tablets from Holland & Barrett" so if that helps you any about which one you can get there in case you can't get the Caltrate. Hope this helps!

SweetSuffolk... Also had the thought that you may possibly need to bulk up your stool. Have you tried increasing slowly (<the key word) your fiber via whole grains or oats etc.? That could help. Or you might want to give a powdered or capsule fiber supplement a try. Again slowly is best with this and you may experience an intial increase in gas but after your body adjusts to he increase.. that should go away.
