I am going to see my specialist on Tuesday, but he is in JHB (thats 800km from where I live)I am leaving tomorow early morning and I am not sure when I will be returning home. Things are not going well with me, I have been having hypoglicaemic attacks for the past 5 days no matter how much I lower the insulin dose (I am a diabetic)It looks like I am having some kind of malabsorbtion problem
Also my weight is going down no matter how much I eat, clearly something is not right. I just feel that I am fading away and I really feel like I have 1 foot in the grave at the moment.Hopefully the doctors wont tell me that there is nothing wrong with me again
I hope to see you people again

Well I just realized that I never updated this thread on my return.I have proof that doctors in this country (South Africa) are totally useless and only out to grab one`s money
I went to see my Gastroenterologist, he wanted to do another Endoscopy/Colonoscopy and I refused. Whats the point?? he did the same procedure 4 months ago and found nothing, my symptoms havent changed ever since and he wants to do it again??This is not a cheap procedure, about (US$1200 here) and it looks to me like he doesnt even want to listen to what I am telling him (terribly irritating
) all he wants to do is grab more money, not to try and find out whats really wrong with me
This is supposed to be the best GI in this country
I have decided to have some examinations (an endoscopy/colonoscopy and all relevant tests)done on my next trip to Italy, probably later in the year or early next year. I no longer have faith in this country`s medicine after all the bad experiences that I have had here (this is the 3rd doctor that I am changing!!) I went to see my physician who is a lovely person and he instructed me to lower my insulin dose and to try to add some variety to my diet as much as my bowels will accept. My nutrition is not near to what it should be but the problem is that my bowels will tolerate only a few different foods before playing up.I havent had blood sugar problems ever since my insulin dose was adjusted.

I can empathize with you when it comes to the concept of doctors not listening, or some therapists for that matter. They all seem to want to make us fit into their preconceived molds... the ones they know how to treat... and if we don't fit any of them... we become "untreatable"
I'm glad the insulin dosage alteration has helped you.Evie
