I got my diagnosis of FM (no surprise)last week, and my doctor gave me Neurontin. Seems to be helping with tummy cramping!! I still don't sleep that good. Any comments?

mamamia, I have fibro too- Had horrible joint and muscle pain. My dr. put me on nortriptaline and I swear I was 90% better in a couple days. I have been on it for over a year(a low dose) and it is still working well. I am also taking neurontin, but for a panic/anxiety disorder. It has been a miracle for me in that area. I didn't notice any pain relief, just relief from major anxiety. I take 2400mgs a day, and I have been for almost 2 years.I have heard of people taking it for pain-nerve pain mainly- so I guess it works on alot of different things. I hope it works for you, if not, look into nortriptaline. It's an antidepressant that when taken at a low dose blocks pain receptors, and also imroves sleep.Good luck!penelope

Anti-epileptic drugs like Neurontin have, in fact, been found helpful for chronic pain.
