Okay, well, I may have been a little emotional (angered) when I posted my farewell. Thanks to the very caring people on this board, you brought me back to reality, making me remember why I participate, to help others.A huge thank you to you all who sent me such sweet messages and pleas. It did my heart good to know that most people on this board consider my offerings heart felt and not intended to harm.To that end, yes, I will continue to visit and perhaps post when appropriate. Now to another matter. I was reading the post from Jeffery re. the American Wholehealth Inc., Causes of IBS. It was interesting to read that alcohol could play a part of type C IBS. While I am primarly type D, I have alternated between the two at times. Additionally, I used to social drink, but over a period of time I noticed that alcohol caused me pain in my back and problems breathing. I didn't say anything to my physician about this, I just gave up drinking any form of alcohol. You know the old joke "doctor when I do this it hurts and he says well don't do that", so I haven't.Now the question, do any of you, if you have ever drank or drink alcohol, have this effect? Thanks.

Isn't alcohol a stimulant? Do us "D" types really want our intestines stimulated even more? I gave up drinking 10 years ago (ok, 1 glass of wine maybe twice a month) Besides feeling much better without drinking, I never found any kind of alcohol I really liked the taste of.
Glad you're back Umleila! I was hoping we wouldn't lose any more good people!
With regards to alcohol, if I have a drink or two the next morning I usually have really uh..gross I know..watery D. Of course then again I don't drink much and when I do it's those girlie foo foo frinks like Madoris so it could be all the sugar!

I'm glad you grew thicker skin and are here with us. We're kind of like a family and as we all know there are times when a relative or two will annoy us.Also, sometimes what is conveyed in a post may not be what was meant. I know I've written a post and went to read it the next day and saw another meaning/intonation that I really didn't mean, and hoped it hadn't annoyed anyone.------------------Martha

Umleila - you actually helped clear the air for me too. I was starting to get annoyed and angry, and your post made me rethink how I was reacting. Now I can read "certain" posts more objectively because there may just be good information in them. Thanks

Dear Umleila,I'm so happy you decided to stay. I haven't been on the board a lot lately, my husband is a computer programer and he was on call for the last few days so he hogged up all the computer time. We all need each other. We need each others view points and ideas. We want to all be in this together when there finally is a cure to IBS and then I'm sure we will have to fine tune it to each of us and we'll all need help and advice for that. I have IBS D and if I drink too much, I get the runs really bad the next day. Since taking the caltrate plus it hasn't happened as bad. Thank you for staying, Loretta

Umleila, I am really pleased you grew thicker skin, and I am sure it is very attractive too
I guess we all have to remember that we are coming here for support and information, it's great to get both but it may not be from the same two people. If I was a drinker I would probably raise my glass now and have a toast, I am glad you decided to stay, Jenni
PS Lisa, do you like champagne?[This message has been edited by Jenni (edited 03-02-99).]

Woohoo Umleila, it's great to see ya back and I'm thrilled you reconsidered!!Now, all we need is for our other "sister" to walk through that door to complete this "family reunion".Karen

Umleila, I'm glad you've reconsidered. I usually go out with the girls once a week and drink alcohol. It's okay if it gives me D because I'm usually constipated. But I have no problems with it. I used to have a little lower back pain which I attributed to the lack of water, but have not had that lately.
