I don't understand what the problem is...I had been feeling so much better for the last few months. But this last week, trying to have a BM has been a physical fitness routine. Sometimes I'm afraid that I'll burst a blood vessel in my brain from trying so hard. I have been bloated, uncomfortable and achey all week...which makes me a real monster to be around. (As my husband would say...I have the Devil in me). I don't feel like I've done anything different. I'm still taking acidophilous and fiber supplements, aerobics every day, ect. The only thing I can think of is because it has been so warm and I have been working out so much...I am loosing more water from perspiring and this is depleting(sp) my intestinal tract of the much need water. I feel like a camel as it is driking all that water...should I drink more? I really hate the thought of having to go on perscription meds, so I want to avoid this at all costs. ------------------Life is what you make of it!

ddrobb, You might really be on to something with the seasonal change. I have a book that talks about that, it's the Brain/Gut, Body/Mind connection, I don't have the title quite right but it's fairly new. The book didn't go into super depth about it but recognized that seasonal changes can cause IBS flare ups. I hope you feel better soon. I alternate between C & D so I have an idea of how you feel. More water can't hurt but you might want to try a mild laxative like Phillips but I'm probably just stating the obvious. Good luck, Jackie

For times such as these, why don't you try a glycerin suppository to get things going again? It's a lot more comfortable than all that straining. You might want to try one teaspoon of Citrucel if you're really having a hard time. I've given up trying to figure out what my gut's doing and why. The only thing I have been able to pinpoint with success is the hormonal changes and how it affects my system and this happened only after cataloging months of how I was feeling and keeping track of ovulation, etc. At least I came to some conclusions but it's definitely not conclusive!!Christine

I used to feel like you just described. I take Citracal Calcium Citrate - caplets + D and have found it has really helped me. I first tried Caltrate Plus but found it didnt work as well.

Hi ddrobb, sorry things are so hard for you at present, I am thinking of you, sorry I cant offer any solutions as I am D, but I have certainly had piles from straining.

Okay dd, we have to get you going especially before your big day tomorrow!!A couple of questions, are you still drinking the same amount of water in the busy warm months? Sometimes we get so busy we forget. Every morning I fill a gallon jug with water and keep in in the fridge, everyone in the house knows it's MINE, and I noticed that I wasn't drinking as much as I used to cuz, I was so darn busy outside, so now I make a point of drinking it all...not that this helps all the time though! When you get really plugged up, have you tried Citrucel with a nice cold glass of water and I know, I know, a couple or three or four pitted prunes before bedtime? I do this before bed so any gas I may experience usually goes unnoticed as I'm sleeping, and by the next morning, things get moving a little better.LOL on bursting a blood vessel in your brain, I hear ya!!!Good luck and take care!!!Karen
