Yes i agree, maybe there is another Doctor you can speak to?What tablets have you been given? The blood you are passing could be from piles, but i am no Doctor so you should speak to someone again. Can you not remember the name of the x-ray you are going to have done, you should check again about that, because you might find that on this forum some of us have had the same one done.

Can your doctor refer you to a GI specialist? They will usually want to be a colonoscopy if you are bleeding at all. I have that problem too and before having the colonoscopy and other tests was convinced I was dieing. They didn't find much of anything with me, but still it should be checked out.

Is the x-ray a barrium x-ray? Also called small bowel enema? I would find a new doctor too. I have been suffering(not just from IBS) for over a year now and having been pushed from pillar to post have now found a doctor who made me realise that no-one ever has to 'just put up' with anything. Maybe ask for a referral to a GI who specialises in IBS. If you look on Dr Foster website at the consultant guide you can find names and who specialises and who is nearest. Due to the NHS choose and book system you can be treated by who you want where you want. I dont know if anyone on this site can recommend someone(only joined here yesterday!) if you post your area?

What is this "doctor" that implies that you should put up with pain and passing blood? You should definitely check where the blood comes from.I had a period within the past year that I had even worse pains after having a BM. I could (not proudly) say that I've had all types, patterns and durations of abdominal pain during the past 3 years. I even had some blood in my stool on 2 ocasions but it was because of piles.
